About
Stuart McIntyre is a painter and draughtsman based in Kent. His work moves between two poles: bold, vibrant acrylic paintings alive with geometric forms and colour, and intricate pen-and-ink drawings that map quieter, more contemplative territories.
Born into Kent's mining communities, Stuart's early life was shaped by landscapes of industry, resilience, and hard-won beauty. Today, he works as a farm manager — a role that keeps him rooted in the rhythms of the land and the turning of seasons. Both histories feed directly into the art: the energy and collision of the paintings, the patience and precision of the drawings.
Stuart's geometric abstractions are built from circles, spheres, sharp angles, and fluid gesture. They're paintings that hold their own on a wall — vivid, physical, and unapologetically bold. The ink drawings reveal a different register: dense crosshatching and fine linework that conjure industrial structures, branching trees, and forms that sit somewhere between landscape and internal architecture.
He has exhibited at the Bottle Alley Art Market in Hastings, and his work is held in private collections.
Stuart's work is represented by Laurie Harrison and Lynn Townsend, who handle all enquiries, sales, and exhibition arrangements. Get in touch.
